Name Similarity Checking

How the World Naming Board flags exact, opening, visual, phonetic, and syllable-frame conflicts without claiming legal clearance.

Product owner and release accountability: Will Hu · Implementation and automated evidence: Manus AI · Updated · Independent human naming-quality reviewer pending

The conflict radar runs locally whenever a name is saved, edited, imported, or removed. It compares each record with the active Board and returns small, explainable warning objects rather than a hidden approval score.

Generation filter versus Board warnings

The generator uses a stricter near-duplicate threshold inside a new batch so the initial 12 results are distinct. The Board uses broader warnings because intentional similarities may be useful for families, dynasties, historical layers, or regional naming. An editor decides whether a warning helps the story or burdens the reader.

Known limits

Similarity is an editorial signal rather than trademark, copyright, linguistic, cultural, or identity clearance. Pronunciation is an English-readable approximation rather than IPA. The site does not claim cultural authenticity, legal availability, uniqueness, ranking performance, or human review that has not occurred.
